Cosmetic Acupuncture

Gabby Lamplugh - Cosmetic Acupuncture

By using a Traditional Chinese Medicine approach, very fine needles are placed on specific points on the face and body to achieve a healthy, balanced body and an improvement in the ageing signs on the face. It is a safe, natural and holistic treatment and after a course of treatments, the results achieved are similar to having botox and fillers, without the frozen face or shiny skin side effects. It is a treatment that is very popular with celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Madonna, Millie Mackintosh and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Cosmetic acupuncture is a very natural way to revitalise your face by restoring the natural elasticity of the skin. Results show a “ fresher ” look, as though you have had a lovely restful holiday and as such, a younger appearance. It is a cheaper alternative to invasive fillers and injectables and has the added benefit of improving your body’s health too.

Cosmetic Acupuncture is a part of Tradition Chinese Medicine Acupuncture. The approach is to use acupuncture points positioned on the meridian lines of the face and body, to restore a harmonious balance. As a result, health conditions are improved too. In addition to the benefits of TCM Acupuncture, when positioned on lines and wrinkles, the tiny facial needles cause small micro traumas in the skin which stimulates the natural production of collagen. This has the effect of plumping the skin, reducing the lines and producing a fresher, younger look.

What happens in a treatment?

Gabby Lamplugh - Cosmetic Acupuncture

An initial treatment takes approx 90 minutes. A medical history and skin analysis is taken and we will discuss what your concerns are about your face and what you are hoping to achieve from the Cosmetic Acupuncture. You will then hop onto my very comfortable treatment bed and relax!

The needles used on the face are very fine and do not hurt at all. I have been very scared of needles for most of my life so I understand that some people are worried about this. I can honestly say that the experience is similar to having a nice head massage. I use a firm pressure to hold the skin so there is no sudden movements. It is surprisingly relaxing and calming.

You may also have a couple of needles placed on your body. Usually the hands, feet, legs and tummy. So it is important to wear loose fitting clothes to give me access. Occasionally clothes need to be taken off to give me access to a point on the body. So please come prepared for this and wear your big pants!! You will be covered by a blanket at all times to keep you warm and protect your dignity.

The needles are usually placed for about 20 minutes which gives you a chance to relax and unwind. Many of the acupuncture points used in Cosmetic Acupuncture have a relaxing effect too which is lovely.

Once the needles have been removed a Chinese herbal mask will be created specifically for you. This is then put onto the face and left for approx 15 minutes. Once this has been removed, I will massage your face and neck area to improve lymphatic drainage (to remove any toxins) and to add some very beneficial anti-ageing vitamins to your skin.

You may feel very relaxed after the treatment, similar to having a glass of wine so try not to rush off and do lots of jobs after the treatment and take some time to enjoy the benefits.

A course of 3 treatments is recommended initially. Ideally taken over 3 consecutive weeks. This is to create the best results which will be sustained over time. After the initial 3 treatments a maintenance or top-up treatment is recommended every 4-8 weeks depending on your skin ’ s reaction and the severity of the issues.
