About Gabby Lamplugh
I have been working as a holistic practitioner for over 8 years, having first being introduced to reflexology when I was struggling to conceive. Prior to this I had never really considered that non-western medical approaches had any merit. I thought that most alternative therapies were for relaxation, carried out by purple haired, sandal wearing, chakra chanting hippies. Not that there is anything wrong with this, it just didn’t match my own approach to life. Which, at the time was pretty stressful. I worked for 15 years in FTSE 100 companies, living away from home in London for half of the week. My job was very stressful and I had a black and white attitude to most things, including health.
It was only when my husband and I experienced 3 miscarriages that I though that maybe, I should take a deeper look at my health, my stress levels and my emotional state. A friend at work approached me and suggested that maybe acupuncture or reflexology could help. Honestly, I went along with a pretty low expectation for the treatment. Little did I know that it would be the start of an extraordinary journey that has led me to be the mother of two incredible children and the owner of a very busy, successful clinic. I’d like to think that I have mellowed a little bit since then. I am much more open to the possibilities of alternative therapies, although I am still very focused on achieving results.
I first set up my clinic in 2010, 7 weeks after the birth of my second child. I have been amazed at how successful the clinic has become. It is truly rewarding to be a part of a couple’s (or single person’s) journey to have their family. As soon as my youngest started school I began my studying of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is something that I have always been fascinated by and I’ve been very lucky to have had an incredible teacher who has been wonderful at explaining it’s beautiful complexity.
Over the last 7 years I have worked with hundreds of couples who have struggled to conceive. Whether they are trying naturally or are receiving IVF, the emotional challenge has been intense. As I have also experienced many of these feelings, I think that many of my patients come to see me because I understand a little about what they are going through.
My focus going forward is to remain specialised in Fertility. Issues of stress and anxiety unfortunately go hand in hand with fertility issues but I also see patients who are stressed for other reasons.
I have worked with many professional athletes; England Football Players, Rugby Players, Golfers, Cyclists and have realised that in many cases, injury recovery is closely linked with emotional stress. My approach to musculoskeletal injury focuses on both the acute injury, any underlying health condition and the emotional undercurrent.
